FLORA HYOIN KIM is a Korean-American choreographer, performer, and dance educator. Since earning her B.F.A. in Dance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2014, she has been working professionally in Boston. As a choreographer, Flora has presented her works at various venues including Harvard Kennedy School, Boston Contemporary Dance Festival, University of Wisconsin-Madison, Onstage Dance Company Choreographer Residency Showcase, First Church in Cambridge, Korean Church of Boston, and Lotte Cinema World Tower in Seoul, South Korea. Flora has performed and presented works by prestigious companies and choreographers including Prometheus Dance, Lenora Lee Dance, BeHeard.World, Jennifer Lin, Deborah Abel Dance Company, Korhan Basaran, Riley Watts, Hollis Bartlett, Nattie Trogdon, Lorraine Chapman, and Urbanity Dance. Flora is currently an Assistant Professor of Dance at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee and has taught various age groups at Boston Ballet School, Urbanity Dance, LINX Dance, Coastline Ballet Center, StyleMe Dance, Endicott College, Boston public schools and dance studios in the greater Boston area. Flora’s vision as an artist and a dance educator is to bring inclusivity, empowerment, and joy to individuals and communities through the power of dance. Flora is honored and thrilled to share her dance experience with VLA Dance and the Boston dance community this month!
FLORA'S CONTEMPORARY CLASS will focus on exploring the freedom of movement through guided improvisation and work towards finding our own inner grooves and joy through learning the intricate dance choreography. We will melt, shake, groove and sweat.
