Hibernian Hall & VLA DANCE present: Summer Online Movement Series, weekly mixed-level movement classes for Youth and Adults taught by the professional dance artists of VLA DANCE to keep you moving. All classes are taught on both Mondays and Wednesdays online and will be designed for small indoor spaces.

ADULT CLASSES
Adult drop-in classes are open to everyone of all identities and dance experiences unless otherwise noted. Classes include yoga, conditioning, ballet and contemporary dance and are aimed at any adult 16+ who want to keep their body and mind healthy over the summer months.

YOGA
Description:
Exploring the mind and body through a structured flow of poses that increase flexibility and balance

CONDITIONING
Description:
Set to an encouraging and fun playlist, a choreographed conditioning class to increase cardio and muscular endurance

CONTEMPORARY DANCE PRACTICES
Description:
Exploring improvisations and VLA DANCE repertory, focusing on spirals, deep plies and weight shifts

BALLET
Description:
A traditional ballet barre with contemporary dance influences focusing on stretching and strengthening the body while encouraging artistic autonomy

BIPOC YOGA
Description:
Using the yoga practice to celebrate life. This class is intended for Black, Indigenous and People of Color.

YOUTH SIX-WEEK PROGRAM
The six-week Youth program is for ages 10-15 and intended to utilize dance and creative practices to continue teaching essential skills of emotional grounding, reading, and writing over the summer. The youth program creates structured summer learning and youth students must attend all six weeks of classes to attain the full experience. All classes are open to everyone of all identities and dance experiences within the age brackets and will be led by Victoria Lynn Awkward and Charity Broussard. YOGA, MEDITATIONS & REFLECTIONS
Description:
Exploring emotional self-grounding techniques through yoga, meditation and written reflections

MODERN
DANCE
Description:
Utilizing Horton dance technique to teach the fundamental skills of dance including musicality, coordination, flexibility and fluidity

Dance History & Dance Film
Description:
Learning and discussing the evolution of dance, with special attention to artists of color, & using the information to prep students' own creative projects
